Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that acknowledges each person's unique experience in the world.  Fundamental to CBT is the idea that our thoughts and perceptions influence our feelings and behaviors and that our thoughts and perceptions can often be distorted or dysfunctional.  In therapy, client and therapist work together to identify distortions and to understand their relationship to the emotions and behaviors causing or contributing to psychological distress and pain.
